An overview of MJBizCon 2023

MJBizCon, which is now in its 12th year, has earned the title of ‘top cannabis business conference and tradeshow’ in the world. It’s the place to be if you want to meet and mingle with some of the most well-known figures in the industry and learn everything that’s going on in the world of cannabis. With over 1,400 exhibitors, more than 100 speakers, roughly 30,000 industry professionals in attendence, and 320,000 square feet of exhibitor space, this is definitely the one industry trade show that you never want to miss.

Jumpstart your week by checking out one of the many pre-show forums that will be taking place all day on Tuesday, November 28th including: the Finance and Marketing Forums, Science Symposium, Women in Leadership, Achieving Equity in Cannabis, and reMind Psychedelics Business Forum.

The actual conference starts on Wednesday the 29th. The showroom floor will be organized into four pavilions to make it easy for attendees to navigate: cultivation products and services processing, packaging and lab services, retail and dispensary, and business services. Make some down time to network, ask all those important questions that have been building up throughout the year, try new products, learn about all the latest trends, and recharge at one of the lively lounges either on or off the expo floor where you can eat, drink, and socialize.

Prices for MJBizCon 2023 are as follows: The Expo pass is $449, which gives you basic expo floor access. Then they have the 3-day conference and expo pass for $999, this allows you to check out the expo floor plus gain access to all the sessions and presentations. And last, you can purchase a VIP all-access pass for $1399, this grants access to all expo, sessions, presentations, VIP lounges, networking events, and more. Click here to buy your tickets now!

One of the best parts about MJBizCon is the fact that it takes place in Las Vegas, where there are numerous exciting venues to put on an event or afterparty that’s fit for a celebrity. Like every year, MJBizCon will have many options to choose from, including wilder parties at nightclubs and strip clubs, or more chill events at dispensary lounges and museums. Whatever vibe or pace you’re looking for, you are sure to find something that fits your needs. Below we highlighted a few of the more popular events that people are talking about, but to see the full list you can click here. Also, keep your eyes and ears open on the expo floor, so you can find out what last minute parties are happening.

The first and probably most anticipated event of MJBizCon 2023 will be The Emjays International Cannabis Awards and Afterparty, presented by AVD (Advanced Vapor Devices) on Thursday, November 30th. The awards ceremony will be at the Pearl Concert Theater located inside of Palms Hotel & Casino, from 7pm to 10pm; and the afterparty will be at KAOS Nightclub (in the same hotel) from 10pm to 3am. The awards show will be like a cannabis cup meets black tie event, with numerous awards and “cups” that recognize the best cannabis products and ancillary services, the latter of which often get overlooked at these types of events. The fully produced show will consist of a red-carpet entry, 20+ award categories with different “celebrity” presenters for each category, live music performances, and an afterparty. Tickets to the awards will provide entry to the afterparty, but you can also buy afterparty tickets on their own if you just feel like hitting the club.

Next we have the Sensi-Hearst Kickoff Party on Tuesday, November 28th from 7pm to 10pm. Hosted by industry powerhouses Sensi Media and Hearst Media, this event will be much more laid back than the previous. It will take place at the iconic Mob Museum situated in the downtown/Fremont area of Las Vegas. It’s a perfect way to really emphasize how far we’ve come since cannabis prohibition was first implemented. As is typical for a Sensi party, there will be plenty of options for networking and mingling, food, drinks, and music, as well as an Elvis impersonator and a few showgirls!

The following night, on Wednesday the 29th, you might want to check out the Green Light Party which will be at the Peppermint Hippo strip club between 9pm and 4am. At this party, hosted by Blazr.App, the cannabis dating app, you can expect non-stop beats and electric vibes from DJ Kitty, networking with some of the biggest names in the industry, an open bar from 9-10pm, gourmet treats, goodie bags, and more! There will be complimentary shuttles transporting people to and from the venue, and you can use your MJBizCon badge to get in for free!

If you feel like doing something more lowkey than a full-blown party, check out the “Unkool Party”, hosted by Invisible Gardens. Every night from Tuesday to Thursday you can head over to the Chandelier bar inside the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino for drinks, food, and chill vibes. It’s a great location to start or end your night, and you never know who you’ll run into.

Lodging and travel

As usual, MJBizCon will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center at 3150 Paradise Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89109. There are many hotels in the area that are partnering with MJBizCon including Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Encore, The Strat, and many more. Plenty of options are available, from incredibly affordable ($41/night at The Strat) to high-end and lavish ($1,699/night at Encore). If you don’t mind commuting, staying around Fremont Street can be a lot of fun too.

For those of you who are driving to and from the convention center like I plan on doing, make sure to allot some extra time because the traffic gets very heavy in that area. Also, be prepared for no parking at the convention center, you may have to park at one of the neighboring lots or hotels and either walk or take some form of public transport.

One of the more convenient ways to get around the Las Vegas strip is by using their monorail system. The monorail makes 7 main stops, which serve as access points to various other hotels, casinos, and attractions, including the convention center. The seven stops are as follows (in order from South to North): MGM Station, Horseshoe/Paris Station, Flamingo/Ceasars Palace Station, Harrah’s/Linq Station, Boingo Station at Las Vegas Convention Center, Westgate Station, and Sahara Las Vegas Station. It’s quite affordable also, a 4-day pass which will get you through the whole convention is only $37 when you book online.

One more thing to keep in mind, and something that many people seem to not realize, is that Vegas gets cold during the winter. Average December temperatures are 59 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, and 27 degrees at night. So daytime is not bad, but it gets quite chilly at night… remember to pack your wardrobe accordingly.
