Could Mood Specific Cannabis Strains Be The Next Big Thing?

Many people who use cannabis and CBD for well-being or to deal with their medical issues like to use different delivery systems and even different cannabis strains depending on the specific effects and mood they want to feel.

Back in the 60s, cannabis was quite different from the buds people know and love today. There were no special cannabis cultivation or extraction methods in those days and people just smoked whatever they could get their hands on at any given time. Back then, strains with specific cannabinoid concentrations, mood specific strains, and lab tested buds were a distant dream.

Fast forward a few decades and cannabis is now legal in many states in the US and some countries in Europe, but it has also majorly changed in character with the passage of time. These days cannabis is specially grown to have a high THC percentage and a low CBD concentration.

THC is the compound in cannabis that gets you high and leaves you feeling giggly or – depending on the strain and how it’s taken – ready for a good night’s sleep. There are also specially cultivated CBD-heavy stains of cannabis known as CBD Flowers or CBD Buds. These look and smell much like regular cannabis, but as they contain high concentrations of CBD and only tiny traces of THC, they don’t get you high or leave you feeling stoned or disoriented. CBD Flower users report feelings of a clear head but a relaxed body and an underlying feeling of contentment and well-being.

As recreational cannabis use is also legal in many states, the market has exploded recently with a wide array of cannabis and CBD products to service the needs of thousands of people around the world. These people often wish to use cannabis in favor of prescription drugs given to them by doctors, as those are often toxic and highly addictive and come with some severe side effects.

Among the products available are specific cannabis stains like specially grown Sativa and Indica varieties that offer different effects and can be used interchangeably. Sativa varieties of cannabis are intended for daytime use or to feel energized and creative. Indica strains, on the other hand, are more commonly used at nighttime or by people looking to resolve their chronic pain or sleeplessness issues.

These days, most cannabis strains are hybrids that are cross cultivated and contain a mix of both Sativa and Indica. However, some people – especially those who live in states where cannabis is legal recreationally – have the choice of pure Sativa or pure Indica strains. This is great for people who want to tailor make the effects they feel when taking cannabis. Sometimes you want to feel light and creative, while other times you want to feel sedated and heavy, especially at bedtime.

While there’s no exact science to it, many people have their own personal favorite cannabis strains. Some people prefer cannabis from the “Haze” variety – Sativa dominant and useful during the day. Others swear by “Kush” cannabis which is a nighttime strain that is heavily Indica dominant. Both Haze and Kush are generic names given to different types of cannabis.

There are hundreds of different cannabis strains available today, and some are more well-known than others. Blue Dream, for example, is one Sativa strain that is very popular in America and is known for its cerebral and creative effects. OG Kush is an Indica strain that is also loved by many as it has a unique aroma and taste and very sedative effects.

Choosing mood specific cannabis strains or taking it to change how you feel is something that many people do regularly. Always ensure you do your research before buying and make sure you seek guidance from the vendor you are purchasing from.
