Terpene Infused CBD Isolate: The Next Big Thing In The World Of CBD

Written by Jack Woodhouse

CBD isolate is a popular product for smoking, dabbing and cooking with. But the efficacy of single compound cannabis products is being questioned.

And while THC is still restricted in most of the world, consuming terpene-infused CBD isolate is proving to be a novel way for increasing the effect of CBD alone.

What is terpene-infused CBD isolate?

Well, let’s break this down. CBD isolate is a cannabis concentrate that consists of about 99% CBD and other trace plant compound. CBD is the non-psychotropic cannabinoid that has been shown to have numerous health benefits, such as antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic qualities. CBD isolate is commonly sold as crystals, crumble or powder.

Terpenes are the fragrant oils that plants such as cannabis produce. They give cannabis strains their distinctive aromas and tastes and are also proving to offer plenty of therapeutic value of their own.

Some companies have found a way to add flavor and to enhance the effects of CBD isolate by infusing it with various combinations of terpenes. By selecting specific terpenes, they are able to recreate the smell and taste of popular cannabis strains. Therefore, you can now purchase such flavors as Pineapple Express and Girl Scout Cookies.

Terpenes and the entourage effect

Termed by preeminent cannabis scientist Raphael Mechoulam in 1998, the ‘entourage effect’ describes how all the ingredients in cannabis seem to work together to produce a greater effect. This has been backed up by research showing that THC and CBD work more effectively together, but terpenes also play a part.

By infusing CBD isolate with terpenes, the therapeutic effects of these single cannabinoid products can, therefore, be enhanced. Certain combinations can also be good at treating certain conditions. This means consumers can experiment with different flavors and find certain combinations that work for them.
