Choosing the right CBD delivery system is VERY important when deciding how often (frequency) you need to take the CBD.
If you are taking CBD to treat your medical conditions, you should ask yourself how to choose the right CBD delivery system?
Smoking or vaping: onset 2-4 minutes effects last 2-4 hours
Sublingual: onset 25-20 minutes effects last 6-8 hours
Edibles: onset 2-3 hours effects last 10-14 hours When edibles are taken daily, in 5-7 days they “build up” in the body as they are stored in the fatty tissue. Thus, if the dose needs to be titrated up, many people can take 2 edibles once a day, instead of one edible twice a day.
Creams: onset 10-20 minutes effects last 4-6 hours
Question: I want to take CBD for my headache, but how do I choose which delivery system is better?
If the headache lasts all day and all night, then vaping or smoking is not the right delivery system because you’ll need to smoke or vape 6-8 times a day in order to get the desired
effect. If the headache only comes before the menstrual cycle, then vaping or sublingual delivery would be the best choice.
Medical cannabis needs to be SELF-titrated to find the correct dosage for each patient.
Everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different. Some people’s endocannabinoid system is
very sensitive & reacts to low doses. Some have a very tolerant endocannabinoid system and will react to only high doses. Yet other people’s endocannabinoid system may vary with the time of the day or the time of the month.
Always start at a low dose and titrate up slowly. Stop when you arrive at the dose that works for you and continue at that dose.
Beware of the “biphasic response” which is when a low dose of the cannabinoid may produce a different and possibly opposite effect of a high dose – yet another reason to always start at a low dose and titrate up slowly.
