World Health Organization: “CBD Not Associated With Abuse Potential”

Written by Corre Addam

A brand new report from the World Health Organization (WHO) just concluded that CBD gives no adverse health effects and is “not associated with abuse potential.”

The WHO report, published last month, claims that naturally occurring CBD is totally safe and well tolerated by “Humans and animals” and is “not associated with any negative public health effects.”

The report also noted that CBD is non-addictive and also non-psychoactive, and does not induce physical dependence, “To date, there is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD,” said the report.

Not only that, but it seems that WHO are the latest fans of CBD, as they said it has positive effects for some people. It commented that CBD has “been demonstrated as an effective treatment for epilepsy.” The report also mentioned CBD in the context of: Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, psychosis, Parkinson’s disease, and other health conditions.

Despite the new repot, CBD is still classified as a controlled substance under Schedule I of Federal drug laws. As such, according to the government at least, CBD still has a “high potential for abuse.”

The other issue hand here is the fact that so much CBD on the market is unregulated, and therefore not all CBD is created equal. In that regard, the industry needs to regulate sooner rather than later, to ensure patients are getting the best quality CBD products.

Unfortunately, the FDA are still dragging their feet when it comes to approving CBD, declining on numerous occasions to sanction this gift from Mother Nature. Following the new WHO report, many hope that those at the FDS will finally take note, and approve CBD once and for all for the general public.
