In case you haven’t heard, August 8th is National CBD Awareness Day – a day to shed light on the numerous medical benefits of this incredible compound, and there certainly are many.
Cannabis awareness holidays are definitely not a new thing. April 20th, or 4/20, has been celebrated for decades and is still the most popular industry holiday that exists. For the better half of the last decade, many people have been celebrating July 10th, or 7/10, as cannabis oil day, because when you flip and invert the number 710, it looks like the word “OIL”. So how did August 8th, or 8/8, National CBD Awareness Day, come to be?
Well, National CBD Awareness Day is not a spontaneous holiday like many other cannabis days. CBD day essentially started as a CBD marketing campaign, by North Carolina-based CBD Manufacturer, cbdMD. The company applied to have it added to the calendar in 2017, stating that some benefits to making a CBD awareness day include “increase in product sales, market visibility, social media engagement, fundraising opportunities for non-profits, brand authority and much more that can be generated annually.”
Regardless of the reason behind it, we can’t argue with the fact that spreading awareness about this possibly life-changing natural therapy is of the utmost importance, especially during a time when everything we are expected to consume – food, medications, certain hygiene products, etc. – are as far from natural as they come.
