If you’ve been keeping up with the latest beauty trends, you’ve likely noticed that CBD (cannabidiol) is permeating the industry. But is this just a passing phase or are CBD beauty products truly beneficial and here to stay?

As it turns out, there is a bit of science behind CBD beauty products. Research indicates that CBD is actually really good to control inflammation, which is the root cause of many skin conditions including acne, blemishes, and rosacea. Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is one of the omega-6 fatty acids found in CBD oil that acts as an inflammatory while also promoting new cell growth. This can help fight redness, puffiness, and irritation while gently moisturizing the skin.

Not only that, but CBD is believed to have some antibacterial properties which can destroy different pathogens on the skin. It’s also full of antioxidants so it can be used to reduce signs of aging. “It’s this all-in-one solution because of its ability to target those [common skin] problems simultaneously,” says Jessica Assaf from the Cannabis Feminist.

Furthermore, a study published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology discovered that dietary hemp oil can reduce the symptoms and overall appearance of atopic dermatitis – a common type of eczema that starts in early childhood and affects over 3 million people in the United States alone.

And just in case you were wondering, CBD isn’t good for just skin, it can also do wonders for your hair. Because CBD oil is also rich in vitamin E and different fatty acids like omega 3, 6, and 9, it’s a great addition to any shampoo or conditioner. CBD oil will nourish the scalp and moisturize your hair follicles, which means your hair will grow faster, stronger, and healthier.
