Bodybuilders are always looking for quicker ways to peak performance as well as speedy recovery times, and most would prefer natural and holistic options over chemicals if possible…
The first thing most athletes want to know is whether or not the supplement they are taking will get them high or not, with the latter being their preferred choice in most cases. When it comes to CBD however, one of the compounds found in cannabis, there’s no worries about getting high at all.
Among other revelations that researchers have come across recently, one is that CBD could potentially help muscles to heal more quickly after workouts and gives better recovery times in general. As Dr. Stuart Titus, PhD, the President and CEO of Medical Marijuana, Inc., said about CBD for athletes, “We really believe that at some point there will be a fixed daily recommended serving size of CBD.”
Titus added that the buzz surrounding medical cannabis and CBD is so big that it goes all the way to the top, “I think some of the best information comes from the US government’s patent,” he says, “It actually mentions very specifically that the non-psychoactive cannabinoids like CBD are more preferable to use, because you can give larger doses without any of the intoxicating or negative side effects.”
Other government literature also notes that CBD has been found to have, “both antioxidant and neuroprotectant properties, and could be useful for treating everything…” To that end, Dr Titus also thinks that CBD is something that can help people mentally, as well as physically, “Many people report that utilizing CBD actually helps sharpen their mental skills,” he said.
CBD can also be used in a cream or topical form which can be applied to sore muscles and inflammation. Dr Titus even thinks that CBD could be more beneficial to humans than vitamin supplements, especially when it comes to heavy weight training. “CBD seems to have a much greater antioxidant effect than vitamin C or vitamin D, so many athletes are using this to deal with inflammation,” he said.
If you decide you want to introduce CBD to your daily roster, or even just on days when you work out, it might be an idea to consult with your doctor first to get the best guidance as to what CBD dose is right for you.
