Ask A Doctor – CBD Vs THC – Thursday 21st December – 3pm EST

CBD Testers Ask A Doctor
Written by Corre Addam

This week the chosen ‘Ask a Doctor’ topic is CBD Vs. THC, where the doctor will delve into questions and answers about the difference between these two cannabis compounds, while sharing with the community insights as to what is the best treatment for them.

Dr Zachar’s intro for this week’s discussion:

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is a psychotropic cannabinoid and the principal psychoactive constituent of the cannabis plant.  Cannabidiol (CBD) makes up 40% of the extract from the cannabis plant.   Both have been proposed to help control pain, anxiety, depression, sleep, autoimmune diseases, and malignancies.  But are both safe to use?

Questions to be answered and discussed:

  • Which one may help to treat addiction disorders, and how?
  • Which one has been shown in both animal and human studies to have no potential for dependence or abuse?
  • Are either of them approved by the FDA to be used to conduct research?
  • Are there any public health problems associated with THC?  With CBD?
