People usually speak about Cannabis in terms of helping them with their anxiety, depression, and pain. There are also those who don’t want to get high or feel confused but want the incredible medicinal benefits it offers.
It’s not that there’s anything wrong with smoking cannabis per se, as long as it’s all under control. It’s just that some people have high-stress jobs and can’t be sitting in the office as high as a kite. For these people, as well as many others, a cannabis option that doesn’t get you stoned or have any psychedelic effects is a great one; that’s why so many people are turning to CBD to quit smoking.
CBD is essentially the baby brother of THC. THC is short for tetrahydrocannabinol – the compound in cannabis that’s responsible for all the getting high (as well for the intake of too many calories when the munchies strike.) CBD – short for Cannabidiol – on the hand, does no such thing and even counteracts the sometimes paranoid-inducing effects of THC. Many people enjoy THC Cannabis regularly and with no issues.
Others, however, can be prone to experiencing a funny turn when smoking cannabis for the first time in a long while or in extreme heat on an empty stomach. While there are no long-lasting effects from such a turn – nicknamed a “whitey” by some as the blood drains from the face and it turns white – it is unpleasant and can leave you feeling paranoid. Not only does CBD work against those effects; it also offers some unique effects of its own.
CBD is isolated and extracted from cannabis or hemp and then made into Vape Juice, Oil Tinctures, and even Bath Bombs and Handcreams. It’s also specially cultivated into CBD Flowers (CBD Buds) which contain almost zero THC but heavy concentrations of CBD. CBD is thought to help people with insomnia, panic attacks, respiratory issues, pain and inflammation, and also skin conditions like eczema which can be treated with CBD Creams and balms. CBD leaves you feeling relaxed and calm but with a sharpness of mind and focus unlike the effects felt from THC.
There are those who have smoked cannabis for years and love the calming effects it gives. Some of those folks, however, are a little long in the tooth and perhaps a tad over-the-hill when it comes to getting stoned all the time. Reddit forums are full of cannabis and ex-cannabis smokers who discuss how CBD has helped them to remove THC from their daily routine while still benefits from the alleged medicinal effects of the plant. CBD relaxed the body, but without the head high, it also calms the mind and leaves you with a sense of well-being.
On a personal note, I have successfully introduced CBD in different forms into my daily repertoire over the past few months. It’s not that I have an issue with the THC aspect, but for me, a few vapes of my CBD Vape Juice or a dropper under the tongue of my yummy Cinamon CBD Drops gives me an additional sense of calm and tranquility and definitely reduces my stress. I also feel more focused and energized after I add some CBD into the mix and am looking forward to trying some high-quality CBD Flowers in my vaporizer at some stage in the not too distant future.
If you’re looking to try CBD and want to quit or cut down on smoking the THC-dominant cannabis, always make sure the CBD vendor you purchase from stocks fresh flowers, and ones that have been sent to a third-party lab to be tested for pesticides, heavy metals, potency, and most importantly, safety.
