According to a new report, the amount of people using legal medical cannabis supplements like CBD oil has more than doubled in the past 12 months.
According to the Cannabis Trades Association in the UK, the amount of people using CBD soared from around 125,000 to over 250,000 users in 2017. The largest chain of Health Food stored in the UK, Holland and Barrett, were the first to supply CBD to the British market.
To date, the chain only stocked one CBD product called Jacob Hooy CBD+ Oil, but they plan to roll out four brand new CBD products in the coming months in order to offer customers a wider choice, as well as to keep up with demand.
People seem relaxed when it comes to taking CBD oil as it has no known side effects, even at high doses, and is totally natural and organic. It also has very wide usage, and can be utilised to treat anxiety, deperession, insomnia and more serious conditions such as epilepsy and MS.
A spokesperson from Holland and Barrett spoke about how shocked the company were with the sudden success of their sole CBD product, “We have been surprised at the success and popularity of CBD Oil since launch (+37%). We knew that there were numerous trends surfacing around this liquid but we didn’t expect to see sales increase this dramatically. We are constantly looking to bring, new and innovative products to market that help our customers. It is great to see in this instance that we can help with the demand. We also want our shoppers to know that we listen to their needs and hope to eventually increase the CBD range to keep up with the growing popularity.”
Medical cannabis has two main compounds, THC and CBD. THC will get you high as it has psychoactive properties, while CBD brings no noticeable effects and works medicinally within the body. CBD on its own seems to have an anti-anxiety effect for many people.
